All of us are geared up to prepare for the festivities and give a startling end to the year. Children are waiting for the gifts from Santa. Friends are dying to party hard. It is all about celebration, celebration and celebration! While we are overwhelmed with the idea of joy all around, our pets may not be in the same frame of mind. They may feel discomfort on this joyful event. Yes! Your pooch or pussy may get annoyed during the festive season.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong>Reasons for pet\u2019s discomfort during festivals: <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Decorations:<\/strong> The decoration makes Fido feel out of place. Tinsels, garlands, mistletoe, Christmas tree, candles, electric lamps, wiring and everything is just new to the pup. The top most reason is that his freedom to roam around the place gets restricted by the big Christmas tree and other decorative stuff. In addition, he may end up hurting himself by the lose wires and tinsels.<\/p>\n<p><strong>People:<\/strong> Your home would be crowded with guests that are strangers for your pet. If the pup or pussy does not socialize much then your lovely guests are invaders for them. Children disturbing the pet would be the start of another hate story.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Noises:<\/strong> Loud noises during the party and outside the house scare the hell out of your four legged friends. Extra lightings bring uneasiness for the furry children. All this brings in a sense of discomfort in them.<\/p>\n<p><strong>How to make this Christmas a pet safe festival? <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Keep it simple:<\/strong> Yes! That is the thumb rule for enjoying a pet safe Christmas. The decoration should be simple. Say no to tinsels. Put lighted candles at a height so that Fido cannot jump and grab the lights. Hand Christmas tree and tinsels. Cover lose wires with tape to prevent pets from getting hurt.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Say no to sweets:<\/strong> Your candies, cakes, puddings, chocolates, raisins etc should be kept away from your pet. Hide them if needed. Feeding this stuff to your pet may result in stomach problems or severe food poisoning. Turkey and chicken bones may get stuck in the pet\u2019s throat. So, keep all this away from the pet.<\/p>\n<p><strong>People proofing:<\/strong> Your guests may create a mess in the pet\u2019s mind. Keep children away from your pet. They may agitate your furry friends. If there are too many guests on the scene then it is better to keep the pet in a separate room away from the hustle bustle.<\/p>\n<p><strong>No firecrackers:<\/strong> Lights and loud crackers would upset the pet. So, avoid them if possible. Make it a quite yet enjoyable day. Prayers and subtle decoration can also be the best way to celebrate Christmas. You need to do this to make your furry child feel safe and at ease.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Celebrate with Fido:<\/strong> You and your pet can have a great time together on the Christmas Eve. Bring them special holiday food or pumpkin or turkey flavored dog and cat treats. A naturally lit home with toys for your pet, some healthy treats and lots of time together would be the finest way to celebrate the Santa\u2019s festival.<\/p>\n<p>To sum up, pets may feel unnerved during festivals. Little adjustments on decorations, guests and noises can make this Christmas enjoyable for your pet as well. So, make some wise decisions to make it a pet safe time.
