How does Advantage Multi Purple Work?

Advantage Multi Purple for Cats contains two active ingredients: Imidacloprid and moxidectin. When applied on the cat’s skin, imidacloprid spreads over the skin and coat, and kills fleas through contact, so that fleas do not have to bite the cat to die. Moxidectin is quickly absorbed through the skin into the bloodstream and prevents heartworm disease, treats and controls internal parasites, and treats ear mites in cats.

Instructions To Use Advantage Multi (Advocate)

• Weigh your cat and get the Advantage Multi pack that corresponds to their body weight.
• Remove one dose applicator tube from the package.
• Hold the tube in an upright position and remove the cap.
• Turn the cap over and push the other end of the cap onto the tip of the tube.
• Twist the cap to break the seal, and then remove the cap from the tube.
• Part the hair on the back of the cat’s neck, at the base of the head, until the skin is visible.
• Place the tip of the tube on the skin and apply the entire contents directly on the exposed skin.
• Lift the tube away from the skin before releasing pressure on the tube.
• Do not get this product in the cat’s mouth or eyes. Do not allow them to lick the application site for 30 minutes.
• In a multi-pet household, keep each treated cat separate from other treated cats and pets for 30 minutes after application to prevent licking of the application sites.

• The packs are color-coded for easier identification.

• It is not for human use. Keep out of reach of children.
• Do not let children come in contact with the application site for 30 minutes after application.
• Avoid oral ingestion in cats.
• It is harmful if swallowed. If swallowed, call the poison control centre or a physician immediately for treatment advice. Sip a glass of water if able to swallow.
• Do not get it into the eyes. If contact with the eyes occurs, hold eyelids open and flush with water for 15 minutes. If eye irritation develops or persists, contact a physician.
• Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and warm water after handling the product.
• Avoid contact with your skin or clothing. If contact with skin or clothing occurs, take off contaminated clothing, and wash the skin immediately with soap and water. Contact a poison control centre or a physician immediately for treatment advice.

Precautions

• Use with caution in sick, debilitated or underweight cats.
• Consult a veterinarian before using it in breeding, pregnant or lactating cats.
• Check with a veterinarian before using it in geriatric cats with subclinical conditions.
• At the discretion of a veterinarian, cats older than 6 months of age may be tested to determine the presence of existing heartworm infection before treatment with Advantage Multi for cats.

Storage

• Store at temperatures between 39°F (4°C) and 77°F (25°C), avoiding excess heat or cold.
