Advantage Multi is a topical solution that protects dogs against multiple parasites, including heartworm disease, fleas, sarcoptic mange and intestinal worms. This monthly treatment forgives if you forget the dosage, as you can treat your dog immediately and resume your monthly schedule when you are a few days late in dosage administration.
Advantage Multi for Dogs kills fleas through contact, so fleas do not have to bite your dog to get killed. This convenient topical solution is suitable for dogs and puppies aged at least 7 weeks, and weighing at least 3 lbs.
With a mess-free application, Advantage Multi makes heartworm prevention for dogs easy. This monthly topical treatment:
Advantage Multi contains two active ingredients: Imidacloprid and moxidectin. When applied on the dog’s skin, imidacloprid spreads over the body and kills fleas through contact, so that fleas do not have to bite the dog to die. Moxidectin gets absorbed into the body and keeps killing hookworms, roundworms and whipworms all month long. Both these ingredients work in tandem and provide protection against sarcoptic mange.

Studies conducted by Elanco suggest that shampooing 90 minutes after treatment with Advantage Multi does not reduce its effectiveness in the prevention of heartworm disease. Shampooing or water immersion 4 days after the treatment will not reduce the effectiveness of Advantage Multi in the treatment of flea infestations. However, shampooing as often as once weekly may reduce the effectiveness of the product against fleas.
Advantage Multi should be applied once monthly, all year round, for your dog’s uninterrupted protection against parasites.
When replacing another heartworm preventive, the first treatment with Advantage Multi for Dogs should be administered within one month of the last dose of the former preventive.
After a single dose of Advantage Multi, if you forget another dose and more than 30 days go in between treatments, treat your dog immediately and resume your monthly schedule.
Advantage Multi for Dogs is not effective for the treatment of adult D. immitis. It may treat circulating D. immitis microfilaria in heartworm-positive dogs. Dogs should be tested for existing heartworms before using Advantage Multi, and at the discretion of a veterinarian, infected dogs should be treated with an adulticide to remove adult heartworms.
Advantage Multi for dogs is indicated for use in dogs and puppies that are at least 7 weeks old and weigh at least 3 lbs.
