Apoquel is a fast-acting formula that treats pruritis caused due to allergic dermatitis and atopic dermatitis in dogs. Manufactured by Zoetis, these anti-inflammatory tablets provide relief within 4 hours of administration and by 24 hours, itching is alleviated completely. Moreover, Apoquel can be safely used in dogs that weigh more than 6.6 pounds and are at least 12 months old. Other than that, Apoquel can also be used concomitantly with other treatments which include NSAIDS, parasiticides, antifungals, anti-infectives, and allergen-specific immunotherapy.
The active ingredient present in Apoquel is Oclacitinib maleate. This ingredient helps in getting rid of allergic reactions. It inhibits the proper functioning of the proinflammatory and pruritogenic cytokines like JAK 1 and JAK 3 that are responsible for producing various allergic reactions in the dog's body.
Apoquel tablets must be administered orally as per the weight of the dog.
